Our retail journey began in the early 20th century, when Guernsey Electricity first opened a store on High Street, St. Peter Port, offering the latest in kitchen appliances and home entertainment products.  As demand grew, we relocated to The Albany on South Esplanade, where we served the community for many years.

Eventually, we consolidated our operations into a larger, purpose-built showroom at Electricity House, where we continue to operate today.  This move allowed us to bring together our retail and utility services under one roof, enhancing convenience for our customers and creating a more integrated experience.

Guernsey Electricity

As the sole licensed distributor of electricity in Guernsey, we have been powering homes and businesses since 1898 when we began as a concession of Edmondson’s Electricity Corporation of London.  In 1907, the Guernsey Electric Light & Power Company acquired the concession, becoming the States Electricity Board in 1932.  In 1993, Guernsey Electricity was adopted as the trading name, and in 2001 became Guernsey Electricity Limited following commercialisation.  

Today, around 90% of the island’s electricity is supplied via subsea cables from Europe, with the company sourcing 100% of its imported electricity from low carbon sources.

Our e-commerce platform, launched in 2022, offers a seamless online shopping experience with real-time stock updates, secure checkout, and convenient delivery options.  Unlike others, an important feature of our website is we only display items that we have available in stock for customers to purchase.

We work with trusted local partners to deliver your items safely and efficiently.  Services include:
